Amitabh Kant is the man behind the new, branded face of Indian tourism today. Apart from his extremely successful and memorable campaigns, Kerala Tourism’s God’s Own Country, IncredibleIndia and Atithi Devo Bhavah – Guest is God, his passion for tourism has seen a lot of groundbreaking work in the field. He introduced new forms of tourism like Medical Value Tourism, Rural Tourism & Cruise Tourism. He has formulated & executed several development plans for several tourist destinations like Buddhist centers and cultural learning centers in Bodhgaya, Rajgir and Nalanda & key heritage sites like Mahabalipuram, Agra, Varanasi, Hampi, Humayun’s Tomb and Ajanta – Ellora.
Kant has other firsts to his credit. As Chairman and Managing Director, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), he revamped the organization and made it a highly profitable commercial enterprise.
Kant was a guest speaker at Wharton Alumni Conference & Kellogg Business School, Northwest University, Chicago.
He is a member of the Indian Administrative Service (Kerala Cadre: 1980 batch).
Mr. Kant is presently M.D. & C.E.O. of Delhi – Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC).
